CRAFTSMANSHIP

LORO PIANA

Loro Piana has forever been a living contradiction. A brand that screams quiet luxury, it embodies such exquisite refinement while showcasing a seemingly indiscriminate abundance of cashmere and extra-fine wool in its timeless garments. Loro Piana has seamlessly introduced vicu.a into the fashion lexicon, a term that has been the preserve of the elite for decades.

Little is disclosed regarding the designers behind Loro Piana’s creations, or the specific timelines of releases. Instead, we find ourselves captivated by the craftsmanship, scrutinising the sheer perfection of each piece, like the complete ensemble on display on this page. Loro Piana’s Eliott blouson in saffron tea presents a short and contemporary silhouette, serving as a modern interpretation of the biker jacket. Expertly crafted from refined linen and silk, this innovative fabric features three layers, united by a weatherproofing Storm System membrane at its core. Its outer layers are composed of linen and silk, while the interior boasts Antigua linen, and the raglan sleeves and generously sized patch pockets enhance the garment’s sense of ease and comfort.

Complementing this is the Gift of Kings crewneck, exemplifying exquisite craftsmanship through a regular-fit jumper fashioned from impeccably refined wool yarn. Its double-knit technique artfully juxtaposes the tonalities of the front and back, creating a distinctive and sophisticated aesthetic that is equally suited for both business and leisure. Paired with the Como trousers, the look showcases the maison’s adeptness at elevating even the most relaxed designs. Cut from jersey cotton with a substantial drape and an ultra-soft fleece interior, these trousers prioritise comfort without compromising style. Featuring a knitted waistband with an inner drawstring for an impeccable fit, alongside elasticated ankles to retain warmth, they epitomise Loro Piana’s dedication to both luxury and functionality.

The best of Menswear and Style: Ferragamo: Robb Report Hong Kong's Best of the Best 2025

From the Ferragamo spring 2025 collection unveiled months ago in Milan, we present a striking ensemble curated by Maximilian Davis—because every distinguished gentleman requires a luxurious leather jacket for those moments of leisure. Davis drew upon his profound connection to the world of ballet as the cornerstone of his creative vision, reflecting on a poignant photograph of late founder Salvatore Ferragamo fitting the renowned African-American dancer and choreographer Katherine Dunham with his inaugural pair of ballerina shoes in the 1930s.

Mama Mia! My feature (and shoot!) is up at The New Moon

Felt back in form working on this shoot and feature - out now in its entirety at The New Moon - read up here.

I wanna give a shout out to Kaye Dong for creating The New Moon; which has been embraced by so many. When I started the pitch to these ladies, I sent them a link to the page and everyone said yes immediately after seeing it. Most people are suspicious of yet another online magazine but there definitely is an aura and... vibe and flavour to this enterprise that is so vastly appealing.

Planned and plotted with my most frequent collaborator this year - photographer Ruby Law - as my previous editor Christina Ko  (an eternal fav - no one tell her) commissioned me (yay) to write this feature and pull together this shoot.

Originally we were going to shoot near Blend & Grind in Wan Chai but of course HK weather being what it is, it poured.

The fine folks at The Upper House provided gorgeous venue and it was smooth sailin' then on.

It was great to see some familiar faces and meet new ones. Check out the feature at The New Moon - subscribe. Tots worth it.

Hong Kong swimmer and star Alex Fong with his brother William Fong: Behind the scenes of a beach shoot: Wardobe by Michael Kors

The Wong bros! Hong Kong swimmer and star Alex Fong with his brother William Fong

The brothers were so brilliant - while one was being photographed, I interviewed the other. The bond, the humour, the sense of duty and filial responsibility was touching.

fantastic: The Hottest Menswear Shoot with Rugby Player Jonny Rees: Shot in Hong Kong

For folks in the mag biz, a publication that promotes creativity and isn't hankered down by the demands of fickle newsstand sales, is manna.

I had heard of the e-zine a long time ago, friends who are models and stylists have recommended it, been part of it and asked me to contribute. A great site that's seen by a lot of fine folks who work in the industry.

Unique, with amazing layouts, very creative, very stylish, very... dare-I-say fun? It does seem like the biz is increasingly becoming un-fun as the pressures seem to sky rocket...

Anyhoo, while I was between gigs, I finally got the chance to shoot for fantastics mag. An online publication that's showcased the works of great talents in the media/artistic/creative/photographic/stylistic/fashionable field. Am I repeating myself? Si. But I'm so freakin' excited its finally up!!

I've been grinning ear-to-ear after seeing the shoot online.

Entire series at http://www.fantasticsmag.com/node/3362

First of hopefully many shoots to come.

Making of shoot...

Worked with the amazing talent that is ze French photographer Laurent Segretier. After having worked with a more than a few divas, this was the most chill-axed shoot I've ever done. Mostly 'cause it was done in my living room that doubled as a studio (budgets are tight/non-existent these days! sigh...).

Jonny Rees, a friend of a friend, posed for the first time ever. I thought he appeared nervous as heck during the long shoot but he later rang to say he had loads of fun and is up for doing it again. Bless. Man hoovers through pizzas and still looks like that. ugh. Folly of youth.

Making young Mr Rees laugh & relax throughout the shoot was part of my gig, which was easy to do ('cause I'm like well funny innit). I'm usually wary of working with newcomers but we had a fun day of munching junk food, drinking, watching random rubbish on tele and shooting in between. Nearly all the 'making of' shots are us laughing. Considering how saucy some of the final images are, you'd never guess.

A lot of the wardrobe and accessories we had were meant for stick figure giants that clomp on catwalks. As the young Mr Rees isn't molded in that frame, Laurent and I catered and styled the shoot according to his ridonculous physique. As a pro rugby player and (former?) professional trainer, the man is a tank. But the nicest one in the horizon.

I should really do some bicep curls that don't involve shoving cupcakes from plate to mouth...
