Taner in Loro Piana for Robb Report Hong Kong

Outtakes from the fashion shoot. On him: Loro Piana full look, Montblanc watch.
Location: Lobby Lounge, Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong

CRAFTSMANSHIP

LORO PIANA

Loro Piana has forever been a living contradiction. A brand that screams quiet luxury, it embodies such exquisite refinement while showcasing a seemingly indiscriminate abundance of cashmere and extra-fine wool in its timeless garments. Loro Piana has seamlessly introduced vicu.a into the fashion lexicon, a term that has been the preserve of the elite for decades.

Little is disclosed regarding the designers behind Loro Piana’s creations, or the specific timelines of releases. Instead, we find ourselves captivated by the craftsmanship, scrutinising the sheer perfection of each piece, like the complete ensemble on display on this page. Loro Piana’s Eliott blouson in saffron tea presents a short and contemporary silhouette, serving as a modern interpretation of the biker jacket. Expertly crafted from refined linen and silk, this innovative fabric features three layers, united by a weatherproofing Storm System membrane at its core. Its outer layers are composed of linen and silk, while the interior boasts Antigua linen, and the raglan sleeves and generously sized patch pockets enhance the garment’s sense of ease and comfort.

Complementing this is the Gift of Kings crewneck, exemplifying exquisite craftsmanship through a regular-fit jumper fashioned from impeccably refined wool yarn. Its double-knit technique artfully juxtaposes the tonalities of the front and back, creating a distinctive and sophisticated aesthetic that is equally suited for both business and leisure. Paired with the Como trousers, the look showcases the maison’s adeptness at elevating even the most relaxed designs. Cut from jersey cotton with a substantial drape and an ultra-soft fleece interior, these trousers prioritise comfort without compromising style. Featuring a knitted waistband with an inner drawstring for an impeccable fit, alongside elasticated ankles to retain warmth, they epitomise Loro Piana’s dedication to both luxury and functionality.

Christian Louboutin Unveils his New Sartorial Footwear Line in Paris

Louboutin puts his heart and sole into the latest collection for men.

In the heart of Paris, during Men’s Fashion Week, Christian Louboutin unveiled his latest Sartorial line—no, not menswear; Louboutin is not charting that far off course, but he has launched pairs of shoes that perfectly complete a man’s wardrobe. With the same exacting style he once reserved for women’s accessories, his latest line, meticulously crafted, is just for the gents, and they all sport the same signature blood-red sole. His enchanting showcase took place within the opulent salons of the Hôtel de Crillon, a Rosewood Hotel, where history and modernity coalesce, providing the perfect backdrop for an exploration of craftsmanship and innovation in men’s footwear—something we’ve been shedding light on for years.

Best of Style: 2025: Best of the Best by Robb Report Hong Kong

Shot at the Summer Palace in Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, this full look by Shanghai Tang ended up being one of the best shots in the issue. Mad rush to do the shot before the arrival of lunch guests, had no idea, it'll all come together so well.

The usual suspects made the cut in menswear, Dior, Bottega, Ferragamo, Ralph Lauren, Loro Piana etc, but really wanted a Hong Kong/Asian angle. Luckily there's always a Mandarin collar at Shanghai Tang - or as its known in my neck of the woods; the Nehru collar! 😉

There's a behind the scenes video that'll be up soon at RobbReport.HK 😎

The best of Menswear in Winter: Loro Piana

As the temperature drops dramatically this weekend—for Hong Kong standards—its perfect weather to snuggle into a cocooning turtleneck in cashmere fleece with “Jamo” pants in cotton corduroy, from the good people of Loro Piana.

We gently sifted through their latest collection (as seen and worn by innumerable celebrities this season as they hit the ski slopes), and a perfect touch was felt in every piece; Loro Piana doesn’t joke around with their threads; cashmere, Mohair, silk blend, extrafine wool, cashmere flannel, double faced pure New Zealand wool, silk blend cashmere are the sort of rich materials we are dealing with consistently. Like faultless ingredients for a perfect recipe, what makes Loro Piana run in its own lane beyond others is easily their adherence to refined and exquisite material. We couldn’t pick between the grey turtleneck and the pure black turtleneck in baby cashmere paired with “Reinga” pants in wool and cashmere (with a loose silhouette that’s got a delicious retro vibe), so here both are.

The black turtleneck should be in every elegant man’s wardrobe; be it Robert Redford or Robert Pattinson, we’ve seen every decade’s defining debonair sport a variation of the wardrobe staple. Heck, the OG “tech bro,” Steve Jobs ran his entire campaign wearing it.

Stefano Ricci’s New Campaign Is a Striking Visual Feast of Fashion, Landscape, and Wanderlust

The hills are alive—and this latest campaign scales breathtaking Peru in style.

Stefano Ricci presented its latest autumn-winter 2025–2026 collection with a stunning campaign that’s scaling new heights. Known for its effortless elegance and debonair flair, the menswear from the Italian maison has consistently peaked the Best of Style column almost annually with our critics as the Florentine fashion house has been on par with the finest threads since the 1970s. Its latest campaign, gloriously distracting, has once again stopped us in our tracks.

The “Mission Peru” theme, part of the brand’s latest expedition, is a grand extension of its consistent ideology of global exploration, a hallmark of the Ricci ethos of taking the road less travelled. And the visuals are breathtaking—we are absolutely besotted by the inspiration the team has found in the verdant landscapes of Peru. The mountainous terrain, the colour and attire of the indigenous people, and the striking contrast of monochrome full looks with the land’s natural hues are shot in panoramic glory in one of the wonders of the world.

Top Five Shoes: Menswear Accessories that are Simply the Best: Editor's Pick: Tom Ford to Zanotti

Quality, precision, elegance, timelessness and perhaps a bit of whimsy - why not? The best in shoes I found last year.

Boots
Giuseppe Zanotti Jaure

When a brand is a staple on the red carpet, known for its bejewelled heels and glittering leather accessories, the men’s section often gets relegated to a forgotten corner. Not today—Italian luxury footwear brand Giuseppe Zanotti has consistently had a men’s footwear section boasting key components of style, refined aesthetics, and incomparable quality. Our latest peek at the gentleman’s department of Zanotti reveals vibrant sneakers, fashion-forward moccasins, and urban-inspired boots, but our eyes are drawn to the Jaure ankle boots, with a shearling inner lining and chunky soles. Practical and functional are not often operative words in fashion and accessories, but Zanotti does it so effortlessly, and the Jaure is elegant to boot. Pun intended.

Oxfords
Perry Ercolino Audley

Custom-made Perry Ercolino shoes have been featured in Robb Report for years and, upon revisit, it’s not a comeback to the list, but a reminder of why he’s still among the best in the business. In his own words, Ercolino has been creating—not following—footsteps in fashion: “With proper care, shoes at this level can last many years. In 2023, the trend that seems to be most prevalent for young professionals is getting back to being well-dressed, both for casual and work attire. Show them great options and they will respond; the men and women who are looking to reset their wardrobe choices can and should be a bit more discriminating. Classics still rule the day, and a timeless piece of clothing or footwear will pay dividends every time.”

Brogues
Silvano Lattanzi EG1 in Alligator Leather

Since 1971, Italian shoemaker Silvano Lattanzi has been handcrafting exquisite leather footwear for discerning gentlemen, drawing from his vast archival “laboratory” of textiles, patterns, colours, and patinas to inform his creations. “All of the collections that I have ever designed and made personally from 1971 to today are stored. Each model can still be reproduced today,” says Lattanzi of his extensive library, which includes this two-tone stunner inspired by a Van Gogh painting. “In Italy, the work of manual skills has not been completely lost, and the shapes [and] styles that are worn by royalty are still on trend.” He tells Robb Report Hong Kong that “the good God, he sent me to Earth to make good shoes.” Amen to that.

Loafers
Tom Ford “Sean” Alligator-Print Tassel Loafers

Start your look from the feet and work your way up, as per the stylist of the dapper man, in which case, let the sartorial canvas begin at the toes of Tom Ford. Bring out the hidden rockstar in you with almost any of the patterned designs from his footwear line, but we are head over heels for this pair of alligator-print tasselled loafers—the quality is next-level, and we’re figuratively and literally at the feet of Ford as he struts away from the empire he built. As the American fashion designer has famously stated, his range is for “men who appreciate detail and quality.” Hence, “the product must be the best.” Ford may be offloading his eponymous business to Estée Lauder to focus on film projects, but he’s sure stepping out in style.

Japanese Shoemaking
Yohei Fukuda Ebony

Patience is key when it comes to getting your hands on a pair of bespoke shoes crafted by Japanese artisan Yohei Fukuda—his years-long waitlist can attest to that. Fukuda’s most recent visit to Hong Kong in spring 2023, a by-appointment-only trunk show at The Armoury, was a scintillating affair for shoe aficionados who appreciate style and precision. Fukuda, a master craftsman who trained at the Tresham Institute in Northamptonshire, has always eschewed trends for timelessness: “We don’t intend to make a shoe that’s about fashion. I want my shoes to be classic so the customer can wear them for 20 or 30 years.” You can pick up a pair of Ebony full brogues in black calf leather from his ready-to-wear collection, but if and when you get an audience with the shoemaker, do yourself a favour and go for custom.

New Stefano Ricci Store at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong Presents Refined Menswear, Dazzling Accessories, and Patented Shoes to Boot

Catering to top-drawer clients in Asia since 1993, the brand is favoured among men of great power and style.

Stefano Ricci has just opened a new store at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong and the maison’s second iteration in the city is as refined as the first, hard-to-miss store that opened in 2018 at The Peninsula Hong Kong. All the signature Stefano Ricci boutique characteristics are there, from the dark colour motifs to the glass-encased cabinets filled with dazzling accessories, the oak furnishings, and the unmissable eagle theme—the fierce-looking bird has its talons entrenched in every store. Behind gilded doors, there’s a rarified air of privacy and panache, as the groomed staff in immaculate uniforms are at the guests’ beck and call. Sit back as things are brought, unveiled, unfurled, and unclipped just for you, like in a members-only club for the elite. One can’t remember if white gloves were on, but they were certainly implied as the latest pieces of a manicured selection were brought out.

What a store. In the handsomely appointed showroom decked with lacquered furnishings, a rich patina envelops the entire room. Gleaming, polished cabinets spotlight the latest accessories such as exotic-skin belts, ties, shoes, and bags, all for the eyes of an in-the-know clientele. The menswear and accessories are so polished and pristine, the only tags worth looking at are ones about the finesse of the fabrication, and how to take care of them. Silk ties, crewneck linen t-shirts, shirts, tapered jeans, and Bermuda shorts are all crafted with meticulous precision—take a jeweller’s loupe to see the exact stitching, hidden buttons, lambskin leather inserts in blousons, and decorative hardware of precious metal.

The 12 Hottest Menswear Looks, Trends, and Accessories of Summer 2024

One way to keep cool over the summer: check out what’s hot in stores.

Although images of autumn-winter collections have started to flood our inbox, the thought of wool-silk peacoats has the fashion desk sweating. In the early days of August, Hong Kong recorded its hottest day of the year—a headline threatened by new temperature records as we speak. So, while it is standard practice to feature fashion one season ahead, at this centigrade, we’re still looking at what’s in store right now to keep cool.

Toop 10 Best Summer Menswear Looks, Trends, and Accessories for Your Season in the Sun

It’s hot out—so look the part.

As the temperature rises and the humidity hits, wearing a three-piece suit for work or leisure is no longer a palatable option. It’s the time to embrace that working contradiction: smart-casual. Let it leap into the lingua franca once again; as the fashion overlords will have it, casual but refined elegance seems to be the chant of the season. Light colours (soft greys, mocha, and baby pink), light fabrics (linen, cotton, and light cashmere) are the long and short of what’s on trend in menswear—and why even the esteemed Louis Vuitton has formal designer shorts in the offing. Here are a few fine examples from the leaders of good taste.

Brunello Cucinelli’s New Hong Kong Store Feels Like a Stylish Italian Apartment

The Italian luxury brand is gently covering the world in cashmere.

In the thick of Art Week in Hong Kong, there is a welcome, fashionable interruption to the social calendar—the grand opening of a signature store for Brunello Cucinelli.

Carolina Cucinelli, co-president and co-creative director, attended the ceremony to usher in this important new chapter and space for the Italian maison as Queen’s Road Central was blocked off for the grand unveiling. A lavish opening that saw the subtle and the stylish strut in to view the large new store in the guise of a warm, welcoming home—Casa Cucinelli, as the concept is called—the space was studded with menswear, womenswear, accessories, and lifestyle gear, all in the muted shades, refined fabric, and elegant silhouette the brand is famed for; the pre-opening buzz is unsurprising.

TBT: Valentino’s Autumnal Collection Asks Men to Rethink Pink

To celebrate the launch of Valentino’s winter wear at The Landmark in Hong Kong, the fashion house went for an explosion of hot pink for the cool climate.

The latest autumn/winter collection from the resident Creative Director at Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli, was shot a few months ago with Lewis Hamilton decked neck to toe in hot pink. The famed race car driver’s campaign shots went viral early on (there are no secrets in the age of social media) and suddenly stylish men of note seemed to have embraced the colour without hesitation. It appeared in music videos, on the red carpet, lord, even men in finance suddenly had a tie and lapel in that highlighter hue.

TBT: Tech meets style as Loro Piana takes a swing at The Ryder Cup

Sports uniforms are often slick, performance gear always has a dash of style stitched in the seams, the athletic silhouette is a happy mélange of form, function and indubitably, a sense of style. But when it comes to this sport, good lord is there a reason why the gear in golf has historically been so shockingly…what’s the polite word… lacklustre?

Lads and ladies, Loro Piana has entered the chat.

Loro Piana announced the renewal of the brand's collaboration with Team Europe for the 2023 Ryder Cup. The sportsmen will be dressed in the finest fibre, timeless colours and high-function design to enhance, not interrupt a swing. If ever a sport needed a touch of elegance--considering the vast money that's at play and global audience on view--Loro Piana has stepped into the greens with intelligent-design and its famed craftsmanship. And we’re not alone in this praise-the-lord hankering.

“Since the partnership began in 2016, the quality of Loro Piana’s fabrics coupled with their specialist design and production knowledge have made them the ideal clothing partner for Team Europe,” says Luke Donald, captain of Team Europe.

Indeed for the past seven years, since Loro Piana first stepped into the game, the brand re-designed the official uniforms for Team Europe with state-of-the-art fabrication to suit atmospheric conditions, providing a sense of comfort and style. What’s more, 3D technology was used to simulate how the material moved when a golf swing was in full action, which led to small changes made for greater impact; allowing the performer utter ease in movement and no chaffing courtesy of their impeccable new uniform.

The latest signature collection includes six looks, featuring a short-sleeved polo with a shirt-style collar, crease-resistant, waterproof fabrics and lightness of material to let the golfer play seamlessly. The advanced technology used in fabrication is next level; the team will be provided with clothing with heat-regulating capacity that enhances ergonomic performance. For that subtle sense of style, there’s a refined colour palette, using Italian tones, the European flag and of course, the sports team’s official logo.

“Loro Piana’s iconic outfits have become synonymous with Team Europe and we are delighted that Captain Luke Donald’s team will become the fourth successive group of players to don these exceptional products,” said Guy Kinnings, Ryder Cup Director. “Since our partnership began at the Ryder Cup in 2016, the quality of Loro Piana’s fabrics coupled with their specialist design and production knowledge have made them the ideal fit for Team Europe, ensuring that the players look and feel the part both on and off the course. I am delighted that we are working with a symbol of Italian excellence for the first ever Ryder Cup in Italy.”

If you’re thirsting to grab a full look from the collection, there’s good news and bad. Only a selection of the Team Europe uniforms, will be available at the maison’s boutique in Rome during the weeks of competition. Will it be available in Hong Kong? No. But variations of the colour scheme, similar silhouette will still be in the offing to golf lovers as Loro Piana’s extensive wardrobe is on sale at stores studded around Asia.

TBT: Throwback Tuesday: Editor’s Picks: Menswear and Accessories for Autumn/Winter 2022

The opinionated fashion team wrung their Tom Ford-scented wrists and picked these sartorial selects and accessible accessories. Alliteration anyone?

As catwalk shows are kicking off in style and stilettos around the fashion capitals of the world this month, here’s a look at the menswear and accessories the fashion squad at Robb Report Hong Kong has kept tabs on. Elegant and refined houses only.

Brunello Cucinelli

A brand that whispers while others scream, Brunello Cucinelli is perfect for the city’s urban sophisticate. While it sticks to its DNA of masterful craftsmanship (over half of the production is made by hand) underpinned by fine fabrics, there’s none of the frumpiness that may suggest, with a lighter, more youthful vibe to the collection. The classic full linen look (main picture) was dapper enough, but all the linens are perfect for Hong Kong’s balmy weather—they let you breath in peace.

Robb Report Hong Kong: 13 Best Brooches at the Oscars 2024, From Boucheron and Cartier to Tiffany & Co.

Now a red-carpet staple, the (often) diamond-festooned accessory is back with a bang.

At the Academy Awards, the tentpole film and fashion event of the year, the red carpet doubles as a catwalk, welcoming stars draped in the latest duds and dripping in diamonds. Red-carpet fashion is usually made interesting by the sheer force of women who set out to dazzle in dramatic gowns and jewels of unconscionable size. Most men wear penguin suits that pass muster, and while we love a tuxedo, to stand out in a sea of black and white, stars and their stylists have breached the fashion column insidiously through the humble lapel.

Boutonnières and brooches are all the rage this season, glittering and glimmering on stars of all stripes. Here are some of our favourite ones from the red carpet at the Oscars 2024.

Inside The Pedder Arcade, an Elevated Retail Space For Distinguished Menswear

A dream realised, menswear and real estate never looked so damn good.

Images can be deceptive, and the photos sent to us of The Pedder Arcade look like set pieces of a film based in New York (Woody Allen’s Manhattan comes to mind)—the elongated ink-blue metallic arches, the high ceilings, and the stellar view of skyscrapers with billboards of American stars peddling the latest threads from designer brands all scream sophistication.

Except, of course, it’s not New York City—it’s the new retail haven in the heart of Central, on the fifth floor of the Beaux-Arts-style Pedder Building. From top to toe, the newly opened Pedder Arcade exudes white-glove perfection and debonair flair.

Lunar New Year 2024: 7 Menswear & Accessories Collections Celebrating the Dragon Motif

From the subtle and sublime to the obvious and the artistic, menswear is rocking a dragon imprint this season.

Embedding the dragon motif into menswear is not a new concept but doing it well in contemporary design is something else entirely—cue flashbacks to Ed Hardy denims from the 2000s that skewered the psychedelic dragon print as it was slapped on the seams and posterior of jeans and denim jackets. Fast-forward to 2024 and, courtesy of stylish edits and cleaner aesthetics, and the designs tell a different kind of mystical tail. The Year of the Wood Dragon cometh, and it’s setting fashion ablaze. Here are some of our favourite Lunar New Year pieces celebrating the dragon.

Robb Report Hong Kong’s Christmas Gift Guide 2023: 7 Shoes That Pair Perfectly With Your Holiday Threads

In footwear news this season, we jazz it up for the holidays, keeping in mind that comfort is key.

Like a broken Last Christmas record, it is frequently mentioned that uncomfortable designer shoes are the purview of the women’s department. On the other hand, the era of uncomfortable men’s shoes ended over a century ago—and luckily, there are no smoke signals that sole discomfort will ever loom again. Sure, a new leather shoe can sometimes slice the skin, and you really do need to break into some new kicks, but with the pandemic, as well as American cinema, music, and celebrity influence, we have seen sneakers permeate office culture. European brands have succumbed to the plush pleasures of relaxed footwear, albeit in dapper tones and silhouette. Soft leather, a curved anklet (the smoother back end of the shoe), style-revolutionising slip-ons, no laces, and more have made “anything goes” the mantra of the season. There might be cobblers of yore rolling in their graves, but we’re stepping into the new year in comfort and style with these picks.

Mazu Resortwear: Hong Kong menswear brand

Mazu Resortwear

Let’s hear it for a home-grown menswear brand. Eurasian designer Adam Raby’s Mazu is a local favourite, incorporating Hong Kong iconography, prints, and city- and sea-inspired features from our humble shores. The Lei Yue Mun at Sunset swim shorts are great for a dip, but to strut around with a glass of Dom Pérignon, the Hapa Shorts in midnight navy with red piping can transport you from the seas to the city with equal ease. The little Hong Kong junk logo on the button is a cute signature touch.
