Mazu Resortwear: Hong Kong menswear brand

Mazu Resortwear

Let’s hear it for a home-grown menswear brand. Eurasian designer Adam Raby’s Mazu is a local favourite, incorporating Hong Kong iconography, prints, and city- and sea-inspired features from our humble shores. The Lei Yue Mun at Sunset swim shorts are great for a dip, but to strut around with a glass of Dom Pérignon, the Hapa Shorts in midnight navy with red piping can transport you from the seas to the city with equal ease. The little Hong Kong junk logo on the button is a cute signature touch.

Mama Mia! My feature (and shoot!) is up at The New Moon

Felt back in form working on this shoot and feature - out now in its entirety at The New Moon - read up here.

I wanna give a shout out to Kaye Dong for creating The New Moon; which has been embraced by so many. When I started the pitch to these ladies, I sent them a link to the page and everyone said yes immediately after seeing it. Most people are suspicious of yet another online magazine but there definitely is an aura and... vibe and flavour to this enterprise that is so vastly appealing.

Planned and plotted with my most frequent collaborator this year - photographer Ruby Law - as my previous editor Christina Ko  (an eternal fav - no one tell her) commissioned me (yay) to write this feature and pull together this shoot.

Originally we were going to shoot near Blend & Grind in Wan Chai but of course HK weather being what it is, it poured.

The fine folks at The Upper House provided gorgeous venue and it was smooth sailin' then on.

It was great to see some familiar faces and meet new ones. Check out the feature at The New Moon - subscribe. Tots worth it.

Sets Appeal: Behind the scenes of a feature shoot: Diamonds, gowns and a pool

Making a splash for a feature shoot! With my favs photographer Ruby Law, Hong Kong KOL and personal trainer Utah Lee and this amazing crew.

On a very cold day in the middle of winter, we made Utah jump into a pool with a gown on and dripping with diamonds. Literally dripping.

Good times.

Behind the scenes of a feature shoot for my monthly column First Person.

More about Utah Lee in the archives here.

Happy Birthday Varun Dhawan

TBT: A Fun chat with Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan when he was here in Hong Kong to unveil his own wax-figurine at Madame Tussauds at The Peak. As the youngest Bollywood superstar to have his likeness in the iconic venue, the 4th Indian figure to join the star lineup, he was in joyful spirits as he had just won his first Best Actor Award at Zee awards.

We spoke at length - you can see bits from our interview in South China Morning Post today - and somewhere along the way, but of course, I asked him about Sridevi.

He was the youngest actor to win the award as a leading man, Sridevi was the oldest Best Actress winner that same year. "I was honoured to win the award along with Sriji, but we are not in the same league as her. She's someone I've looked up to and I'm so looking forward to working together with her in an upcoming film. We can learn so much from watching legends."

Happy Birthday Varun Dhawan. All of.. 32!

First Person: My Column in Prestige Hong Kong:

My favourite column to write and shoot. Discovered new talent, gorgeous photographer Ruby Law who did the portraits of Jacqueline Au and Utah Lee (below!).

This was a great way to get new faces and talent into the magazine, be it in front or behind the scenes.

All portraits below by Olivier Yoan.
