Blend & Grind: Jonny Rees: Rugby fit to Healthy Eats: The best in Kennedy Town, Hong Kong

What started off as a humble little cafe serving piping hot specialty coffee(s) and healthy berry smoothies in generous portions, Blend & Grind in Central was a perennial favourite.

Now in its larger, Kennedy Town iteration, it’s easily the best breakfast spot in town; K town!

High ceilings, open spaces, always-amiable staff and concise and clever menu, watch a slow tram pass by with a regular ding-ding punctuating the hours. Special recommendations, hangover curing smoothies and a carb-heavy breakfast with eggs as a cure-all for the weekend.

Bonus points; they deliver to your front door in 20 minutes if you can’t trek it to the venue. Bliss.
Blend & Grind in Kennedy Town

Blend & Grind's Kennedy Town location (at 20 Catchick Street, Town Place) first opened in May 2022, their third branch (after the original in Mid-Levels and one in Wan Chai/Sun Street). A pet-friendly semi-outdoor area and all-day brunch/cocktail service). the café typically opens its doors around 8am (varying slightly by day) and serving brunch, coffee, smoothies, and evening cocktails.

Most Recommended dishes, I have a list;

Avosmash (or Avo Smash / smashed avocado on sourdough): a standout—generous portions of olive & thyme sourdough topped with smashed avocado, sun-dried tomato, feta, pumpkin seeds, and lemon drizzle. Fresh, flavourful, filling, and a perfect light breakfast.

Bagel sandwiches and B&G Breaky Board (with scrambled eggs, avocado, halloumi, smoked salmon, sourdough, etc.): Quality and satisfying portions.

Acai bowls and other healthy options like the Green Power Bowl: Popular for brunch, especially among those seeking vegan/plant-based choices.

Lamb shakshuka, grilled chicken salad, toasties, breakfast baos, and weekend items like Sunday Roast (e.g., NZ ribeye or pork rack for sharing).

Most Recommended Drinks

House-blended coffees (especially flat white, macchiato, or their White/Black Edition blends):

Smoothies (e.g., Power Up with mango/pineapple/banana, Avocado, or Recovery chocolate protein shake): Its yum and ticks all the health factor checklist —Recovery tastes like a healthy chocolate milkshake.

Signature cocktails in the evening: Classic Espresso Martini is a go-to (pairs perfectly with their coffee beans), along with Avocolada and Spicy Devil.

A solid all-day venue with healthy brunch focus in the morning and cocktails later.

If you’re in the area, the Avosmash + flat white combo comes up a lot as a reliable, energizing choice.
