Abhishek Bachchan

Abhishek Bachchan's first full feature in Prestige magazine appears in the April issue - and I had the joy of interviewing him again.

He was in Hong Kong for a charity event and is a great interviewee; articulate, knowledgeable, witty, self-effacing... and married to the most gorgeous gal in the world... (the last part's just a bonus!).

Here he is in Hong Kong with the awesome philanthropist Purviz Shroff. Not many know this but the Shroff family has given nearly HK$1billion (that's billion, not million!) to various charities over the years.

Personally, have a lot of love for this kind lady - who gave me a big hug after I wrote something in the paper about ten years ago! Usually, I get grief via email (there's always some nut job with spare time and no change) so to get that unexpected feedback was awesome!

Can't wait for April issue of Prestige magazine!

PS: From the Press Release regarding the event/charity:

On 9th November 2012, YEG hosted a Grand Ball at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong in support of City of Joy Aid. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous 4-course dinner and entertainment provided by Tricia Buser’s “My Musical Studio” and Gretchell & The Band. Well known Indian film actor and producer, Mr. Abhishek Bachchan made a Special Guest appearance in support of the City of Joy Aid. Indian Consul General Mr. Gaddam Dharmendra, Mrs. Purviz Shroff and Mr. Bachchan were awarded plaques of appreciation for their support of the event by HK City of Joy Ambassadors, Mr. Sunil Uttamchandani and Ms. Anais Barclay. Highlight of the evening was a live auction of exclusive items which included a round-trip charter flight from Hong Kong to Boracay with accommodation at the luxurious Shangri-La Boracay Resort. All the proceeds from the auction will go to the City of Joy Aid.

City of Joy Aid is a non-profit humanitarian organization dedicated to helping some of the world's most underprivileged. Based in Calcutta, India, this network of clinics, schools, rehabilitation centers and hospital boats has brought relief to the poorest of the poor since 1981. The organization is neither religious nor political and is funded by royalties generated by the sale of the international bestsellers of its Founder, author Dominique Lapierre, and by donations. Among its achievements, City of Joy Aid has rescued 9,000 children suffering from leprosy, suppressed tuberculosis in 1,200 villages, dug 541 tube wells for drinking water, provided medical assistance to over 5 million patients and taught women in a thousand villages to read and write.
